It is with profound sadness that the Puma Cup reports on the death of John Bateman.
John Bateman was a regular driver in the Puma Cup series with Simon Phillips, with whom he shared the car.
John was racing the car at Donington Park on Sunday 16th September 2018 and in 2nd place in class and on the penultimate lap and suffered a medical emergency. Medical assistance was scrambled by the race organisers and John was transferred to hospital but sadly was not able to be saved.
The Puma Cup series is a close knit group of friendly people and have felt John’s loss deeply.
We send our heartfelt sympathies to John’s fiancée Karen and to all family and friends. We have lost a kindly warm and genuine nice guy from our midst.
Puma Cup’s Kevin Shortis said, “We have all been the richer for having John Bateman in our lives and now be the poorer without him”.
