Sunday 09 October 2016 – Puma Cup ends season on a high!

The 2016Nextec Puma Cup ended a very successful season on a record high. The grid entry was the highest in the Puma Cup history and this reflected on the appeal and support seen during this amazing year.

The Puma Cup entry at Saturday’s Oulton Park final race rounds saw 11 entries surpass the near regular outings by ten drivers. The Puma Cup is really being talked about and the Oulton Park paddock at the BRSCC run event showed that not only were people talking about it but three more were actually building Puma race cars for 2017. The appeal? Genuinely nice easy going friendly paddock and drivers who will enthusiastically promote the Puma Cup to anyone who comes to get information.

Puma Cup organiser and promoter Kevin Shortis said, “It has been a true experience working with Alex Eacock and the team from EMC Motorsport and I have thoroughly enjoyed this first of what I hope to be many years of running this growing series. It must not be long before Championship status will be considered as the numbers grow. The growth this year has near doubled over previous seasons. The reason is that Puma Cup was the best kept secret but word has got out in the motorsport world. When people realise just how cost effective the cars are to race, it then becomes the easy choice to compete”.

There will be no slack time during the close season as new initiatives and confirmation of additional sponsors to partner the headline sponsor for 2017 – NEXTEC.

Anyone who would like to race a mini endurance race format should look no further. The Classic Sports Car Club run a slick and efficient organisation and with up to two drivers sharing a car, the entry fee (2016 at £385) is proper value along with the racing membership at £39 per driver. No brainer? You bet.

A shout-out to our sponsors and suppliers. Nextec, Dunlop (Mr Tyre), Superchips, GAZ, Custom Cages and Nicky Grist Motorsport.

The 2017 calendar is nearing completion and will be posted on this website asap. Registered competitors should get a sneak preview before it goes public.
